The new middle school in Pavullo del Frignano is conceived as a built landscape, integrating into the hillside and becoming part of the site’s topography and identity.

The project for the new middle school in Pavullo del Frignano, initiated in 2023 and currently ongoing, represents an investment of €12,320,000 and occupies a total area of 4,570 m2. The intervention is conceived as a harmonious integration between architecture and landscape: the building is not simply placed on the hillside, but becomes an integral part of the local orography, creating a renewed and reassuring presence for the community.

In this vision, architecture itself becomes landscape, merging with the natural surroundings and enhancing the network of open spaces that define the site. The outdoor areas are designed as a unified system articulated into four distinct subsystems, each contributing to the creation of a coherent and functional environment closely connected to school life.

The building’s opaque walls are constructed using highly durable materials with excellent insulating properties, ensuring high thermal performance and optimal indoor comfort for students and staff. This technical approach reflects the intention to create a space capable of guaranteeing well being throughout all seasons.

The project aspires to be more than a simple school building. The new middle school of Pavullo del Frignano is envisioned as a point of reference for the entire community: not an isolated architectural object, but an element that blends with the territory, respecting and enhancing the local landscape identity. It offers students a serene, welcoming, and stimulating learning environment, in constant dialogue with the surrounding nature.
