Three towers set within the Alpine landscape, offering an experience of wellbeing suspended in silence.

The renovation and expansion of FORESTIS Dolomites in Bressanone, initiated in 2018, constitute a complex project that combines the enhancement of the existing structure with new volumes integrated seamlessly into the Alpine landscape. The development includes the original building, a new staff house with an adjoining restaurant and kitchen, the wellness area, and three hotel towers rising above it.

The three towers, positioned above the wellness zone, represent the most distinctive element of the expansion: the two lateral towers reach a total of ten storeys, while the central tower extends to thirteen. The lower levels, from –5 to –3, accommodate staff residences, while the kitchen and restaurant are located on level –2, ensuring an efficient layout that remains separate from guest circulation.

From a structural standpoint, the project presents several technically significant features. The towers are constructed in reinforced concrete, a solution that ensures stability, robustness and resistance to the demanding climatic conditions typical of high altitude environments. Also of particular engineering interest are the wide-span ceiling of the boiler room and the complex shoring system required to support the existing timber structure during the renovation and expansion works.

The renewed FORESTIS thus emerges as a harmonious composition of volumes and functions, where engineering, architecture and landscape come together to offer an immersive hotel experience deeply rooted in the natural context of the Dolomites.
