A private residence on Lake Maggiore, defined by pristine fair faced concrete and a rigorously minimalist architectural language.

The private residence on Lake Maggiore designed by BergmeisterWolf Architects is conceived as a rigorous and essential architectural statement, establishing a precise and measured dialogue with the lakeside landscape. The project adopts a contemporary language in which exposed concrete and structural clarity become the defining elements of its identity.

The building is characterized by immaculately finished fair faced concrete surfaces, executed with extreme precision to ensure material continuity, durability, and refined visual quality. Concrete is employed not merely as a structural material but as an architectural medium, giving the house a monolithic, restrained presence that reinforces the relationship between form, structure, and landscape.

Particular attention was devoted to the design of construction details and the building envelope, which was developed to achieve exceptionally high thermal and energy performance. Advanced insulation strategies, careful control of thermal bridges, and the inherent thermal mass of the concrete structure work together to ensure maximum indoor comfort and energy efficiency, without compromising the project’s formal purity.

From a structural perspective, the residence is defined by minimalist solutions and bold cantilevered elements, allowing for large overhangs that project toward the lake. These cantilevers enhance the perception of lightness and create suspended living spaces and terraces, maximizing visual impact and panoramic views. Structure thus becomes an integral part of the architectural composition, enabling clean lines, reduced supports, and a strong spatial connection with the surrounding environment.

Overall, the house represents a coherent synthesis of architectural rigor, structural innovation, and high performance design, translating Bergmeister Wolf’s refined architectural approach into a residence where form, material, structure, and performance converge seamlessly within the unique setting of Lake Maggiore.
