Nervi Winery, founded in 1906 by Luigi Nervi and recognised as the oldest wine‑growing estate within the Gattinara DOCG, extends across nearly thirty hectares at the foot of Monte Rosa. In 2018 it was acquired by Giacomo Conterno, marking the beginning of a new phase of development, one that is not only productive, but also architectural and identity‑driven. Following the acquisition, an important expansion of the winery was launched in 2019, developed in collaboration with the architectural firm Primatesta. Designed by architect Giancarlo Primatesta, the project draws inspiration from the work of engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, renowned in the 1920s for his reinforced‑concrete grid structures celebrated for their technical innovation and geometric refinement.

Timeless Structure, Contemporary Vision
Architecture and winemaking tradition come together beneath a grand coffered vault, in a contemporary reinterpretation of Pier Luigi Nervi’s structural legacy.
The defining element of the intervention is the new roof, built with a coffered system composed of double‑curved glulam beams and steel carpentry, ensuring both structural stability and visual lightness. Spanning approximately 23 metres and reaching a maximum height of 10.50 metres, the structure creates a spacious, technically sophisticated and sculptural volume that aligns seamlessly with the winery’s historical and material identity.
