The new CAP Holding headquarters, whose construction began in 2018, is located in Milan at Via Rimini 32 and was conceived with the goal of bringing all the company’s offices together into a single operational hub. The building features a distinctive architectural configuration: its volume, suspended above a recessed base, evokes the image of an ark seemingly floating above the waters of the nearby Naviglio Grande.
The west façade is defined by a highly pronounced cantilever, one of the project’s most characteristic elements, made possible through the use of post tensioning cables embedded within the first elevated floor slab. This structural solution enables large spans without vertical supports, ensuring visual continuity and a striking sense of lightness.
The main load bearing elements of the building are constructed entirely in cast in place reinforced concrete, both ordinary and prestressed, to guarantee monolithic continuity and high performance in terms of stiffness and structural resistance. Starting from the second floor up to the roof, the perimeter walls are built in unreinforced fiber reinforced concrete, a design choice that allows for the safe integration of the numerous irregular facade openings, something that would be challenging to achieve with conventional reinforced concrete.
The result is a complex and innovative structure where structural engineering and architectural vision work in synergy to create an iconic, technologically advanced building that stands out within Milan’s urban landscape.
