A New Benchmark for Sustainability, Born from the Convergence of Advanced Engineering and Architecture.

The first Bosco Verticale, part of the “Porta Nuova” urban regeneration project in Milan, is an iconic development consisting of two residential towers measuring 110 and 76 metres in height, distinguished by the integration of trees and vegetation across façades and terraces. Construction began in 2010 and resulted in a complex of approximately 300,000 m³, with a total investment of €85,000,000, playing a key role in reshaping Milan’s emerging skyline.

Within this context, HB was entrusted with the development of the structural construction design, assuming a central role in coordinating architects and engineers—an essential task for ensuring design coherence and execution precision in a building of extraordinary technical complexity. The firm also refined several structural concepts to optimise construction phases, enhance static performance and ensure a smooth and efficient workflow on site.

Bosco Verticale has since become an international model of sustainable architecture, successfully combining advanced engineering, innovative construction strategies and urban landscape into a single, recognisable and groundbreaking architectural gesture.
